Nathalie Barnes is a member of the class of 2025, originally from Orange County, California. In addition to concentrating in African American Studies, she hopes to earn certificates in Visual Arts: Film and Gender and Sexuality Studies. She was drawn to the AAS department by its strong sense of community, incredible faculty, and interdisciplinary approaches. At Princeton, she has primarily explored courses in Black Queer culture and histories, media studies, resistance practices, and Black feminist theory. In both her AAS and VIS independent work, she plans to further study Black feminist representation.
Outside of academics, Nathalie is a member of Princeton Women's Diving team, serves as Production Manager for Body Hype Dance Company, and works with BAC's creative team. Post graduation, she hopes to explore film production with a focus on Black and Queer representation.
