Mya Ramhi is a third-year student at Princeton University from South Florida, concentrating in the African American Studies Department on the Race and Public Policy Track, with minors in Statistics and Machine Learning and Latino Studies. She was drawn to the department for its commitment to facilitating conversations on global Blackness, supported by esteemed faculty and a tight-knit, intellectually stimulating student community.
Her research interests focus on the identity formation of the Afro-Caribbean diaspora in relation to African Americans, as well as the carceral system's connection to Black immigration to the U.S. Mya is additionally particularly interested in exploring the role of the school-to-prison pipeline in the expansion of juvenile justice systems, especially in Broward and Miami-Dade Counties.
