Bio/Description

Born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee, Genevieve is a member of the class of 2026, pursuing a degree in African American Studies with minors in Computer Science and Statistics & Machine Learning. The department’s talented, supportive faculty and encouragement of creative, interdisciplinary work drew her to AAS. She is especially interested in technology research, using quantitative analysis to highlight and combat emerging tech’s disproportionately harmful impact on Black communities. She previously worked with the Ida B. Wells Just Data Lab, where she studied the dangers of police surveillance within public K-12 schools.

Outside academics, Genevieve is a board member of the Association of Black Women, a dancer for Dorobucci Dance Company, and a radio DJ for WPRB. In her independent work, she hopes to merge her academic interests with her love of music, studying Black innovation in music technology.
