Event Description

This year, the Princeton Caribbean Connection (PCC) is thrilled to celebrate Caribbean Studies by expanding our annual conference into a three-day event, running from Friday, November 1st, to Sunday, November 3rd, 2024. The conference keeps the same name but is joined by a new tagline, Small Places, Big Futures: Transforming Island Perspectives Into Global Dialogues. Building on the rich history of our previous conferences, this upgraded format will allow for a more comprehensive exploration of Caribbean studies. Our expanded schedule will offer an enriched program of scholarly sessions, discussions, and cultural activities, providing a vibrant platform for students, scholars, and advocates from the Caribbean and its diaspora to engage deeply with Caribbean academia and culture.

Inspired by Jamaica Kincaid’s A Small Place and the Jamaican proverb "Wi likkle but we tallawah" ("We are small but we are strong"), this year’s conference will highlight the Caribbean's significant global impact despite its size. Hosted in Jadwin Hall, the event aims to foster a greater appreciation for Caribbean contributions and advocate for the establishment of a dedicated academic space for Caribbean studies at Princeton.
