The fourth book of the five-volume publication project presents the artist{\textquoteright}sphotography. Though primarily a painter, Hendricks credits photographyas a key to his practice, which he studied under Walker Evans and often usesas reference to create his stunning, photorealistic portraits. For the first time,they are grouped together in a dedicated volume.Skira and Jack Shainman Gallery have partnered to realize an unprecedentedbook project dedicated to the artist Barkley L. Hendricks (1945{\textendash}2017). Theproject consists of four booklets, each of which provides an in-depth explorationof a body of work integral to the artist{\textquoteright}s output (Works on Paper, LandscapePaintings, Basketball Paintings, Photography), followed by a comprehensive300-page monograph which will trace the artist{\textquoteright}s evolution for the entirety ofhis career.The project is tied to an extensive and never-accomplished-before recovery ofthe artist{\textquoteright}s archive. Each book contains essays by different leading internationalscholars.Jack Shainman Gallery has represented Hendricks since 2009. His solo exhibitionsat Jack Shainman Gallery include Heart Hands Eyes Mind (2013), BarkleyL. Hendricks (2016) and Them Changes (2018).
